# Balog elected president of the Reformed Church synod

On 17 February 2021 the synod of the [Reformed Church in Hungary](/organizations/hungarian-reformed-church) elected Bishop [Zoltán Balog](/people/zoltan-balog), a former Orbán minister, as its clerical president for six years. Balog, bishop of the Danubian Reformed District, won 64 of 97 valid votes at the synod's inaugural session, and János Molnár was elected lay president.
