# Belgian tax shift lowers labour charges and raises consumption taxes

From 2015 [Michel](/people/charles-michel)’s federal government shifted tax off labour onto consumption, including VAT on electricity for a period. It is a completed fiscal act of the premiership, later partly reversed.
