# Bruno publishes Lo spaccio de la bestia trionfante

Date: 1584

## The fact

In 1584 [Bruno](/people/giordano-bruno) published Lo spaccio de la bestia trionfante, an Italian moral-allegorical dialogue in which the heavens are reformed and triumphant beastliness expelled, a civic-virtue public object from the London vernacular cluster. It is not a 1789 pamphlet and not the 1600 pyre. He wrote satire-philosophy; shops sold it. The row stores cohesion around a reform-of-manners story. Inquisitors later heard impiety; that legal hearing is another date.

## Context

A beast-expulsion allegory gathers readers around moral reform. That is cohesion. It is also easy to quote as blasphemy in a later courtroom — which is why the trial rows must not collapse into this colophon. Do not merge with 1600. Do not treat later anticlerical reprints as 1584. Do not twin with Eroici furori. Elizabethan readers could take it as courtly moralism. Roman readers later took it as insult to religion. A satire can be a gathering and a future exhibit. Inquisitors later heard impiety; that legal hearing is another date. Eroici furori is a different 1585 title. Jacobin reprints are not 1584.

If a number is not in the two records named above, it is not supplied here.

## Evidence and sources

Gutenberg’s Bruno page locates Spaccio among the Italian dialogues. SEP independently dates the 1584 Spaccio and treats it as a moral-reform work in the London cluster. Official/public carrier: https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/author/2547. Independent: https://plato.stanford.edu/entries/bruno/. The records establish 1584 Spaccio. They do not establish a unique later satire-index. A missing Spaccio would change the row; Furori is 1585; 1600 is not this allegory alone. A missing 1584 Spaccio would change the row.

## Significance

Improving cohesion path: shared moral-allegory reading. High confidence on 1584. Modest weight. Trial exhibits remain later legal use. Cosmological titles remain other 1584 books. Do not invent a unique modern civility coefficient.

Later competitions, monuments, translations, UNESCO listings, museums, and adaptations are not converted into extra lifetime acts.

## What is established and what is not

Established: Bruno published Lo spaccio de la bestia trionfante in 1584. Not established: that 1600 is this satire alone, or that a Jacobin reprint is 1584. A showing of no 1584 Spaccio would change the row; Furori is a different 1585 title. A showing of no 1584 Spaccio would change the row.

The attached driver is [social-cohesion](/drivers/social-cohesion). The welfare reading used in this dossier is improving. That reading is an impact-path choice, not a property stored on the Fact itself.

Confidence is stated on the impact path, not hidden in adjectives. Spaccio is not the execution and not a Jacobin pamphlet. Mixed effects of Bruno publishes Lo spaccio de la bestia trionfante are separate paths.

Shared responsibility is part of Bruno publishes Lo spaccio de la bestia trionfante. Naming Giordano Bruno does not delete co-authors, institutions, or later transmitters. The lag from 1584-01-01 to any measured indicator is not treated as zero. Alternative explanations — weather, other armies, later statutes, or independent cultural change — remain live where the sources do not close them.
