# Braverman resigns as Home Secretary over breach of ministerial rules

On 19 October 2022 [Suella Braverman](/people/suella-braverman) left her post as UK Home Secretary after forwarding an official document to a fellow MP from a private email account, a serious breach of ministerial rules that she acknowledged. Six days later the new prime minister, Rishi Sunak, appointed her to the same job again.
