In July 2025 [Carney](/people/mark-carney) announced that at the next UN General Assembly Canada would officially recognise the State of Palestine. In October he said Canada would fulfil ICC commitments and detain [Netanyahu](/people/benjamin-netanyahu) if he entered Canadian territory.
