# Abramovich's Chelsea FC sold to Boehly–Clearlake consortium

On 30 May 2022 the sale of Chelsea FC by [Roman Abramovich](/people/roman-abramovich) to a consortium led by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital was completed under a UK government licence; proceeds of about £2.5 billion were frozen pending use for victims of the war in Ukraine.
