# Colombia enacts Law 2272 defining Total Peace as state policy

## The fact

On 4 November 2022 Colombia enacted Law 2272, which modifies and prorogues the public-order statute chain from Law 418 of 1997, defines peace as a state policy, and creates a social-service-for-peace vehicle. Diario Oficial No. 52.208 carries the text.

## Context

Petro had taken the oath on 7 August 2022. The ELN table was authorised in November. Neighbouring 21 November 2022 Caracas installation is a child. He did not sit as every negotiator.

Law 2272 is the parent of Decree 1117. The 2016 FARC accord remains a Santos-era neighbour, not this statute as a twin.
