Restoring burned temples and streets is a health-and-urban-capacity path. Taking the fire as a licence to re-found the city in his name is the neighbouring Colonia row. Shared contractors remain unnamed.

Commodus’s documented role is bounded by other offices and collaborators named in the sources below. Sharing a field with them is not a reason to drop a documented act, and it is not a reason to assign later consequences done in the name after death.

Dio records a major fire damaging temples and palace fabric; Livius places a destructive fire in the early 190s cluster beside the 192 consulship year.
