# Germany amends the Building Energy Act on heating systems

Date: 2023

In September 2023 the Bundestag adopted a softened Building Energy Act requiring new heaters, over time, to run on a rising share of renewables. An earlier draft leaked in 2023 had caused a political shock over boiler replacement. The enacted text is milder than the leak and still a completed statute.
