# French anti-inflation retail programme lowers selected grocery prices in 2023

Date: 2023

On 15 March 2023, a voluntary anti-inflation programme began across participating French retailers after discussions led by Economy Minister [Bruno Le Maire](/people/econ-bruno-le-maire) and Olivia Grégoire. Retailers selected essential products and funded lower prices from their margins. DGCCRF reported that, by late April, the aggregate price of roughly 1,700 tracked product-price references had fallen about 13% from the pre-programme level. This was a bounded retail agreement, not a statutory price-control regime.
