In January 2023 US Secretary of Education [Miguel Cardona](/people/miguel-cardona) launched the 'Raise the Bar: Lead the World' agenda, setting three priorities for American education: achieving academic excellence, improving learning conditions, and creating pathways for global engagement and multilingualism. The Department paired it with an expert-led 'Raising the Bar' literacy and math series aimed at accelerating post-pandemic academic recovery.
