# EU enacts legally binding European Climate Law (2021)

Regulation (EU) 2021/1119, the European Climate Law, entered into force on 29 July 2021, writing into binding law the EU's objective of climate neutrality (net-zero GHG emissions) by 2050 and an interim target of cutting net emissions by at least 55% by 2030 versus 1990 levels.
