# Loeb Classical Library publishes Diogenes Laertius Book 10 in English and Greek

## The fact

In 1925 the Loeb Classical Library issued Hicks’s Diogenes Laertius volume containing Book 10: vita, will, three letters, and Principal Doctrines. The book is a completed facing-page teaching instrument. It is not an autograph and not a clinic.

## Context

English-speaking students could now read the core corpus without a private manuscript hunt. Print also froze Loeb’s textual choices. Later digital Perseus reused that public domain layer.

[Epicurus](/people/epicurus) is not the sole author of every later object, law, or museum label that uses the name. Shared work with courts, excavators, printers, spouses, officials, and later states does not erase a documented role, and it does not make an ancient person the signer of a twentieth-century statute.
