# Union adopts the asylum and migration management regulation

Date: 2024

Regulation (EU) 2024/1351 of 14 May 2024 is the core management instrument of the Pact on Migration and Asylum. It sets responsibility rules, solidarity mechanisms, and border-procedure duties. The Commission proposed the pact in 2020 and steered the final package. Independent humanitarian organisations describe the same text as reducing access to protection. Those readings are interpretations; the Fact is the adoption.
