# Union adopts the EU deforestation regulation

Date: 2023

Regulation (EU) 2023/1115 of 31 May 2023 requires operators placing cattle, cocoa, coffee, oil palm, soya, rubber and wood on the Union market to show those commodities were not produced on land deforested after 31 December 2020. The Commission proposed the file as a Green Deal trade measure. Later delays to application dates are implementation facts, not a reason to deny the adoption.
