# Parliament Bureau appoints Metsola’s head of cabinet as secretary-general

On 12 September 2022 the Bureau appointed Alessandro Chiocchetti, then [Metsola](/people/gov-roberta-metsola)’s chef de cabinet, as secretary-general from 1 January 2023. Transparency groups called the process a backroom deal. Appointment is a completed personnel act, not a criminal judgment.
