# Parliament president backs child-sexual-abuse detection politics including scanning options

On 11 May 2022 the Commission proposed CSAM detection duties. [Metsola](/people/gov-roberta-metsola), a former LIBE EPP coordinator then president, publicly treated child-protection scanning as a House priority. It is a proposal-and-mandate fight, not an applied Union-wide scan of every phone.
