# Ethics code Metsola championed exempts the president from declaring a lobbyist spouse

On 4 September 2024 Politico reported that under a new Parliament ethics code [Metsola](/people/gov-roberta-metsola) had advocated, she would not have to declare her husband Ukko Metsola’s Royal Caribbean EU lobbying role as other members must. A code gap is a completed integrity act, not a finding of a corrupt contract.
