# Union adopts the Nature Restoration Law

Date: 2024

Regulation (EU) 2024/1991 on nature restoration was adopted in June 2024 after a narrowed Council and Parliament compromise. Restoration targets remain, with flexibilities added under farmer and member-state pressure. Adoption is co-legislative; the Commission proposed the original text.
