From 25 May 2018 the GDPR applied Union-wide. [Vestager](/people/tech-margrethe-vestager) did not draft it, but her later digital EVP role treated privacy-and-competition overlaps as a single-market problem. Application is a completed legal fact she then used in platform cases.
