# Government engages Article 49.3 on the 2023 budget

In October 2022 the [Borne](/people/elisabeth-borne) government used Article 49.3 on the 2023 finance bill after the president had lost his Assembly majority. It was the start of a series of 49.3 uses on money bills. No-confidence motions failed.
