# France enacts the energy tariff shield in the 2022 budget

The 2022 finance law of 30 December 2021 froze regulated electricity-price rises and limited gas-price increases (bouclier tarifaire) after the post-invasion energy shock had begun to appear in wholesale markets. It is a fiscal price-control, not a generation investment.
