# France promulgates the 2024 immigration statute

Law 2024-42 of 26 January 2024 tightens several asylum, benefit, and removal rules. On 25 January the Constitutional Council struck a large block of articles as legislative riders. The remaining text was still promulgated. Rights groups described a harder regime; the government presented a control-and-integration bargain.
