# Gavi launches the COVAX Advance Market Commitment Date: 2020 ## The fact On 4 June 2020 Gavi launched the COVAX Advance Market Commitment to finance COVID-19 vaccines for lower-income economies. The launch is a completed financing-policy act. Delivery shortfalls documented later are separate Facts. Hippocrates is not a donor. ## Context National pre-orders by rich states threatened to empty the market. COVAX tried to write a cosmopolitan purchase. Hippocratic cosmopolitan ethics is sometimes cited in speeches about COVAX; the legal instrument is Gavi’s AMC. Do not inflate Cos.
