# Gorsuch writes 303 Creative opinion allowing refusal of same-sex wedding websites

On 30 June 2023 Justice [Neil Gorsuch](/people/neil-gorsuch) wrote the 6–3 majority opinion in 303 Creative LLC v. Elenis. The Supreme Court held that the First Amendment prevents Colorado from using its anti-discrimination law to force web designer Lorie Smith to create expressive wedding websites for same-sex couples carrying messages she disagrees with.
