# Gorsuch writes McGirt opinion on Muscogee reservation

On 9 July 2020 Justice [Neil Gorsuch](/people/neil-gorsuch) wrote the 5–4 majority opinion in McGirt v. Oklahoma, holding that much of eastern Oklahoma remains a Muscogee (Creek) reservation for purposes of federal criminal law.
