# Volodymyr Groysman becomes Prime Minister of Ukraine

On 14 April 2016 the [Verkhovna Rada](/organizations/verkhovna-rada) voted 257 to 50 to appoint parliamentary speaker [Volodymyr Groysman](/people/volodymyr-groysman) as prime minister and to accept the resignation of [Arseniy Yatsenyuk](/people/arseniy-yatsenyuk), who had led the government since the February 2014 ousting of [Viktor Yanukovych](/people/viktor-yanukovych). Groysman told MPs that together they would make Ukraine successful.
