# Georg Ludwig leaves Leibniz in Hanover while taking the British throne, marking court disfavor

## The fact

When Georg Ludwig became George I in 1714, Leibniz was left in Hanover rather than brought to London, a dated mark of court disfavor after years of Guelph historiography. It is not the Commercium as a twin and not a British statute.

## Context
