# Leibniz enters Mainz service under Johann Christian von Boineburg as jurist and diplomat

## The fact

From 1667–68 Leibniz entered the service of Mainz under Johann Christian von Boineburg, writing legal and diplomatic papers including Egyptian-plan diplomacy toward France. It is not the Paris mathematical years as a second twin.

It is one event.

## Context

SEP and Britannica independently print the Mainz years. A counsellor of electors is not a representative office. Do not treat 1668 as the Berlin Academy.

Sharing a field with them is not a reason to drop a documented act, and it is not a reason to assign later consequences done in the name after death.

Conventional years are 1646–1716. Surviving public files are GWLB Nachlass pages, the Akademie-Ausgabe, SEP, and encyclopedias. Leibniz did not typeset those later pages. Later electronic computers are not this life.
