# Gyurcsány's 'we lied' Őszöd speech is leaked

On 17 September 2006 Hungarian radio broadcast a leaked recording of Prime Minister [Ferenc Gyurcsány](/people/ferenc-gyurcsany) telling Socialist MPs in May that the government had lied 'morning, noon and night' about the economy; violent protests followed in Budapest.
