# Csaba Hende resigns as defence minister

On 7 September 2015, during the migration crisis, [Csaba Hende](/people/csaba-hende) resigned as Hungary's defence minister amid criticism of slow construction of the border fence. He handed in his resignation after the government's national security cabinet reviewed progress on the temporary barrier along the Serbian border; Orbán accepted it and asked [István Simicskó](/people/istvan-simicsko) to take over.
