# Hegel publishes the first volume of the Science of Logic

Date: 1812

## The fact

In 1812 the first volume of Wissenschaft der Logik appeared, with further volumes through 1816, [Hegel](/people/georg-wilhelm-friedrich-hegel)’s Nuremberg-period architecture of being, essence, and concept, printed as a public treatise. He wrote; Johann Leonhard Schrag’s house manufactured. The row stores one knowledge-record. It does not claim a later Frege-style formal system. Being, essence, and concept are the public architecture; they are not a later symbolic-logic package and not Phenomenology under another title.

## Context

A logic book in 1812 is a data object: categories listed, transitions argued, a copyable skeleton for later encyclopaedias. Do not treat later mathematical logic as 1812. Do not treat the 1817 Encyclopaedia as this title — that is a shorter system-book on another date. Gymnasium days supplied the desk, not the colophon’s identity. Boys in the Ägidien rooms are the school row. A speculative logic that later schools fought over is still a 1812–16 print, not a 20th-century faction. Frege is not 1812; the Encyclopaedia’s shorter 1817 skeleton is not this three-part Logic; gymnasium hours are the desk, not the colophon.

## Evidence and sources

Internet Archive holds a public-domain Science of Logic. SEP’s dialectics entry independently treats the Logic as Hegel’s 1812–16 major work. Official/public carrier: https://archive.org/details/in.ernet.dli.2015.38493. Independent: https://plato.stanford.edu/entries/hegel-dialectics/. The records establish 1812–16 print. They do not establish a unique later logic-course series. A later formal calculus is not this speculative architecture, and 1807 Phenomenology is not this title. A contradictory first-volume year would change the row.

Official or archival record: Hegel, Science of Logic — public-domain text (https://archive.org/details/in.ernet.dli.2015.38493; Internet Archive).

## Significance

Improving knowledge-record path. High confidence on the volumes. Modest-to-medium weight. Phenomenology remains 1807. Encyclopaedia remains 1817. Later analytic logic is other authors. Do not invent a unique modern data-protection coefficient.

If a number is not in the two records named above, it is not supplied here.

## What is established and what is not

Established: Hegel published Science of Logic from 1812 through 1816. Not established: that it is a later formal calculus, or that 1807 is this title. The 1817 Encyclopaedia is a shorter outline, not this Logic. A showing of no 1812 volume would change the row.

Confidence is stated on the impact path, not hidden in adjectives. Science of Logic is not Phenomenology and not later analytic logic. Mixed effects of Hegel publishes the first volume of the Science of Logic are separate paths.

Later competitions, monuments, translations, UNESCO listings, museums, and adaptations are not converted into extra lifetime acts.

The attached driver is [personal-data-protection](/drivers/personal-data-protection). The welfare reading used in this dossier is improving. That reading is an impact-path choice, not a property stored on the Fact itself.

Shared responsibility is part of Hegel publishes the first volume of the Science of Logic. Naming Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel does not delete co-authors, institutions, or later transmitters. The lag from 1812-01-01 to any measured indicator is not treated as zero. Alternative explanations — weather, other armies, later statutes, or independent cultural change — remain live where the sources do not close them.
