# CJEU holds that Lex NGO's foreign-funding stigma breaches EU law and the Charter

Date: 2020

On 18 June 2020 the Court of Justice held in Commission v Hungary (C-78/18) that Act LXXVI of 2017 on organisations receiving support from abroad imposed discriminatory, unjustified restrictions on capital movement, association, and privacy. This Fact is that dated judgment. It is not the 2017 Lex NGO statute taken alone, not the 2020 Lex CEU judgment, and not the 2021 replacement statute. The CJEU judgment is the official file; the New York Times contemporaneous report is the independent file.
