# Hungary enacts Act LXXVI of 2017 on foreign-funded organisations

Date: 2017

On 13 June 2017 the [National Assembly](/organizations/national-assembly) adopted Act LXXVI of 2017 on the transparency of organisations receiving support from abroad, requiring NGOs above a donation threshold to register as foreign-funded. The Court of Justice later held the statute breached free movement of capital and the Charter. This Fact is that dated statute. It is not Stop Soros (2018), not the [Sovereignty Protection Office](/organizations/sovereignty-protection-office-hungary) (2023), and not a personality. Official text sits in the National Legal Database; the CJEU judgment in Commission v Hungary (C-78/18) is the independent file.
