# Hungary replaces Lex NGO with Act XLIX of 2021 after the CJEU loss

On 18 May 2021 the [National Assembly](/organizations/national-assembly) adopted Act XLIX of 2021 on the transparency of organisations carrying out activities capable of influencing public life, after the Court of Justice had struck Act LXXVI of 2017. Critics said the replacement kept a stigma-and-audit channel against civic groups. This Fact is that dated replacement statute. It is not the 2017 Lex NGO taken alone, not Stop Soros, and not a personality.
