# Hungary creates the Sovereignty Protection Office

In late 2023 Parliament created a [Sovereignty Protection Office](/organizations/sovereignty-protection-office-hungary) to investigate alleged foreign political influence. Rights groups described a new intimidation tool against independent media and NGOs. It is a completed administrative statute.
