# Hungary transfers public universities into public-interest asset-management foundations

On 27 April 2021 the [National Assembly](/organizations/national-assembly) adopted Act IX of 2021 on public-interest asset-management foundations performing a public duty, moving most remaining state universities and large public assets into boards appointed by the Fidesz majority. Critics described a lock of public wealth and academic control beyond an ordinary later majority. This Fact is that dated model-change statute.
