# Netanyahu orders investigation to identify NAZA documentary sources

Israeli Prime Minister [Benjamin Netanyahu](/people/benjamin-netanyahu) ordered the attorney general and the head of Shin Bet to identify soldiers and officers interviewed anonymously in the documentary NAZA and called for criminal investigation and prosecution over alleged information-security offences, defamation and harm to Israel's diplomatic and security interests. The Guardian and Euronews reported the order on 12-13 October 2026. NAZA uses testimony from 24 military and intelligence insiders and had won the Special Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival. Israel's military has disputed the film's allegations. The direct order creates a documented press- and source-protection concern because it seeks to expose confidential interviewees and pursue legal action against people involved in the film.
