# The 1429 Loire operations reopen towns previously cut by English garrisons

Date: 1429

## The fact

In June 1429 the Valois Loire campaign cleared a string of English-held posts after Orléans. This Fact stores the corridor reopening as access, not as a second copy of 8 May.

## Context

Siege economies and garrison taxation are welfare machines. Clearing them is not the same as the Reims rite and not the same as the later Paris assault’s deaths.

[Joan of Arc](/people/joan-of-arc) is not the sole author of every later object, law, or museum label that uses the name. Shared work with courts, excavators, printers, spouses, officials, and later states does not erase a documented role, and it does not make an ancient person the signer of a twentieth-century statute.

## Evidence and sources

Orléans Métropole campaign memory and Britannica independently describe the June Loire sequence.

Official or archival record: Orléans Métropole (https://www.orleans-metropole.fr/; Orléans Métropole).

## Significance

Access path. High confidence that the corridor opened; medium on harvest statistics not in this file.

A corridor is not a coronation and not a failed Paris assault.

## What is established and what is not

Established: June 1429 Loire posts fell in Joan’s campaign season. Not established: a tonnage series of grain saved.

What would change the picture: a contradictory original with a different date or name, or a measured series that can be argued, with lag and alternatives, as a consequence of this instrument rather than of later institutions.

The date is the date of this instrument, not a licence to back-date every later harm or benefit.
