# Charlotte Perriand’s furniture collaboration at rue de Sèvres is absorbed into the Le Corbusier–Jeanneret–Perriand line, with credit long skewed to the atelier’s male brand

Date: 1929

## The fact

In 1927–29 Charlotte Perriand entered 35 rue de Sèvres and, with [Le Corbusier](/people/le-corbusier) and Pierre Jeanneret, developed the tubular chairs later known as LC1–LC4. He did not bend every tube. Labour here is authorship and atelier hierarchy, including the received story of an initial rejection of Perriand as a decorator. ## Context

Ozenfant’s earlier Purism is another partner-row. Perriand’s Japan years are hers. Later feminist museum work is reception, not 1929. The attached driver is [labour-market-tightness](/drivers/labour-market-tightness). The welfare reading used in this dossier is worsening. That reading is an impact-path choice, not a property stored on the Fact itself.

## Evidence and sources

Fondation Le Corbusier independently lists the furniture as LC–Jeanneret–Perriand. MoMA independently catalogues the chairs and the collaborators. Britannica independently names Perriand among associates. No unique 1929 payroll is invented. ## Significance

A canonical modern chair with skewed credit is a labour path. Medium-high confidence on the collaboration; the first-door anecdote is received. Later reattribution labels are not his lifetime act of repair. Archival locator: Fondation Le Corbusier — English portal at https://www.fondationlecorbusier.fr/en/ (Fondation Le Corbusier). Independent locator: MoMA — Le Corbusier (Charles-Édouard Jeanneret) at https://www.moma.org/artists/3426 (Museum of Modern Art).

Shared responsibility is part of Charlotte Perriand’s furniture collaboration at rue de Sèvres is absorbed into the Le Corbusier–Jeanneret–Perriand line, with credit long skewed to the atelier’s male brand. Naming Le Corbusier does not delete co-authors, institutions, or later transmitters. The lag from 1929-01-01 to any measured indicator is not treated as zero. Alternative explanations — weather, other armies, later statutes, or independent cultural change — remain live where the sources do not close them.

## What is established and what is not

Established: 1929 furniture as a three-name collaboration publicly branded LC. Not established: a unique profit share. Conventional 1929. Not a 1970s retrospective as the act. Archival locator: Fondation Le Corbusier — English portal at https://www.fondationlecorbusier.fr/en/ (Fondation Le Corbusier). Independent locator: MoMA — Le Corbusier (Charles-Édouard Jeanneret) at https://www.moma.org/artists/3426 (Museum of Modern Art).

If a number is not in the two records named above, it is not supplied here.

Later competitions, monuments, translations, UNESCO listings, museums, and adaptations are not converted into extra lifetime acts.

Confidence is stated on the impact path, not hidden in adjectives. Do not treat later MoMA label corrections as his 1929 repentance. Mixed effects of Charlotte Perriand’s furniture collaboration at rue de Sèvres is absorbed into the Le Corbusier–Jeanneret–Perriand line, with credit long skewed to the atelier’s male brand are separate paths.
