# Lempart leads protests against Constitutional Tribunal abortion ruling

After Poland's [Constitutional Tribunal](/organizations/constitutional-tribunal) ruled on 22 October 2020 that abortion for foetal defects was unconstitutional, [Marta Lempart](/people/marta-lempart)'s Women's Strike led weeks of mass protests across Poland. As head of the group she called a nationwide strike and a march on Warsaw, the seat of the government, the tribunal and the ruling Law and Justice party.
