In 1910 secret testamentary and editorial arrangements favoring Vladimir Chertkov intensified the fight over [Tolstoy](/people/leo-tolstoy)’s diaries and later works. The instrument is that papers-control rupture, not the October departure alone and not a 1921 museum accession.
