## The fact

In the 2017 cluster of PRC documents on cultural industries and traditional culture, Daoist mountains, festivals, and [Laozi](/people/laozi)-branded products sit inside a planned heritage-production sector. The traditional author is a brand, not a planner.

## Context

Industrialising a disputed sage can fund conservation and can also script official culture. The worsening path here is state-directed cultural production, with conservation gains already stored on UNESCO rows.

Laozi is not the sole author of every later object, law, or museum label that uses the name. Shared work with courts, excavators, printers, spouses, officials, and later states does not erase a documented role, and it does not make an ancient person the signer of a twentieth-century statute.
