# Angelo Mai publishes palimpsest letters of Fronto and Marcus

## The fact

In 1815 Angelo Mai published palimpsest correspondence of Marcus Cornelius Fronto with Marcus, a dated recovery of the prince’s Latin school.

## Context

The letters show rhetoric, not the notebook’s Stoic pose. Both are evidence. Neither is a complete interior life.
