# The 10 August 1792 assault on the Tuileries ends the monarchy in arms as a completed fall of the royal household

Date: 1792

## The fact

Britannica and later French public histories print 10 August 1792 as the storming of the Tuileries and the effective fall of the monarchy, with the family transferred toward the Temple. Swiss Guard deaths are not invented as a unique table here. She is heading of the fallen household, not the author of the assault.

It is one event.

## Context

This is polarisation as civil-war threshold. Detention rows follow. Louis XVI’s January 1793 death is his instrument, not stored as her act.

[Marie-Antoinette](/people/marie-antoinette)’s documented role is bounded by other offices and collaborators named in the sources below. Sharing a field with them is not a reason to drop a documented act, and it is not a reason to assign later consequences done in the name after death.

Lived 1755–1793; queen consort from 1774. Household officers, Austrian diplomats, the king, and later Revolutionary clerks share the file. Cake is a later slogan, not a sourced utterance. The Diamond Necklace is allegation and image. Fiscal crisis is not stored as her unique coefficient. Complex contribution is required.

Named person as heading of the dated public instrument. Later editors, museums, printers, or offices share publication. Complex where later carriers are the surviving public file.

## Evidence and sources

Britannica and Versailles independently describe 10 August 1792.

Official or archival record: Britannica — Marie-Antoinette (https://www.britannica.com/biography/Marie-Antoinette-queen-of-France; Encyclopaedia Britannica).

## Significance

A completed armed fall of a royal palace is a polarisation path. It is not 5 October 1789.

## What is established and what is not

Established: 10 August 1792 as a dated political-military event.

What would change the picture: a contradictory original with a different date or name, or a measured series that can be argued, with lag and alternatives, as a consequence of this instrument rather than of later institutions.

The date is the date of this instrument, not a licence to back-date every later harm or benefit.

Established here: a sourced, dated public instrument with a named contribution by Marie-Antoinette.

They are not a public rating.

The driver `political-polarization` is attached because the mechanism named in Significance follows from this instrument, not because a standing list of welfare headings needed another tick. Marie-Antoinette did not file a later UNESCO form, a later Loeb colophon, or a later museum label as a personal act. A portrait or conventional bust is not this mechanism. Allegation, reconstruction, and established occurrence stay distinct. Keep 10 August distinct from the October 1793 trial. Keep the carrier date of later English distinct from the received historical year stored in the date field. Do not read a later English edition as a recovered autograph of Marie-Antoinette.
