# Closure campaign reached NGOs, universities and media at national scale

Date: 2022

Human Rights Watch reported that authorities closed more than 2,000 NGOs during 2022, cancelled the legal status of multiple universities and shut radio stations and other media outlets. OHCHR's reporting during the same period documented more than 1,500 organizational cancellations by September, university closures and at least 20 mostly faith-based broadcast outlets shut down during the year.
