Nineteenth-century English collections (Detmold and successors, later Liberty Fund reprints) published letters and legations beside The Prince. The dated public instrument used here is that collected-writings tradition as now hosted.

## Context

Without the letters, Borgia missions collapse into myth. The collection is a knowledge gain, not a moral rebate.
