# Hungary authorises a Serbia-border fence and criminalises unauthorised crossing of it (2015)

[Hungarian Government](/organizations/hungarian-government) Resolution 1401/2015 ordered preparation of an approximately 175-kilometre, four-metre temporary border-security fence along the Hungary-Serbia border. Law CXL of 2015 then created criminal offences for unauthorised crossing of the border barrier, damaging it and obstructing related construction work; the relevant provisions took effect on 15 September 2015. This record is limited to those documented government and legislative actions.
