# Marilyn Monroe Productions is announced with Monroe as president and Milton Greene as partner

Date: 1955

## The fact

On 7 January 1955 [Monroe](/people/marilyn-monroe) and photographer Milton Greene announced Marilyn Monroe Productions in New York, with Monroe as president at 51 percent. This Fact is that corporate-and-press instrument as a bid for story, director, and cinematographer approval, not a claim that she was the first woman producer in Hollywood.

It is one event.

## Context

Positive labour and industrial-policy path: a named star built a vehicle against a seven-year Fox lock. Later Greene departure and tax-shell years are not this announcement.

Marilyn Monroe’s documented role is bounded by other offices and collaborators named in the sources below. Sharing a field with them is not a reason to drop a documented act, and it is not a reason to assign later consequences done in the name after death.

Lawyer Frank Delaney hosted the 7 January 1955 announcement; Greene held 49 percent. MMP later co-produced The Prince and the Showgirl. She did not invent female production companies; she did file this one.

Named person as heading of the dated public instrument. Later editors, museums, printers, or offices share publication. Complex where later carriers are the surviving public file.

## Evidence and sources

Vanity Fair’s documented MMP chronology and Britannica independently describe the 1955 company and the Fox fight.

Official or archival record: Vanity Fair — Marilyn Monroe Was “Never a Victim” (https://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2022/01/marilyn-monroe-hollywood-mastermind; Vanity Fair).

## Significance

An independent production heading is a creative-autonomy path. Confidence high on the announcement, medium on later MMP accounts.

## What is established and what is not

Established: 7 January 1955 MMP announcement with Greene. Not established: that MMP paid all later Fox rents or that she was historically first.

What would change the picture: a contradictory original with a different date or name, or a measured series that can be argued, with lag and alternatives, as a consequence of this instrument rather than of later institutions.

The date is the date of this instrument, not a licence to back-date every later harm or benefit.

Established here: a sourced, dated public instrument with a named contribution by Marilyn Monroe.

They are not a public rating.

The driver `labour-market-tightness` is attached because the mechanism named in Significance follows from this instrument, not because a standing list of welfare headings needed another tick. Marilyn Monroe did not file a later UNESCO form, a later Loeb colophon, or a later museum label as a personal act. A portrait or conventional bust is not this mechanism. Allegation, reconstruction, and established occurrence stay distinct. A 51 percent presidency is not a completed 1956 Fox signature. Split the January 1956 settlement. Keep the carrier date of later English distinct from the received historical year stored in the date field. Do not read a later English edition as a recovered autograph of Marilyn Monroe.
