# Márton Nagy becomes Minister of Economic Development

In May 2022 [Viktor Orbán](/people/mig-actor-viktor-orban) appointed former central bank deputy governor [Márton Nagy](/people/marton-nagy) to the new post of minister for economic development. At his hearing on 18 May he set the goal of bringing Hungary up to the EU average by 2030, and parliament's economic committee backed him by 10 votes to 4.
